Exploring the Five Boroughs

New York City has an entirely deserved, esteemed reputation for being an iconic must-see melting pot that contains a seemingly infinite amount of culture, lively entertainment, and highly desirable food options. Especially with the last part about foods, it's no wonder that you end up with a city and its five boroughs that all contain equally enticing food options, because you have people who have journeyed from across the world to make a name for themselves with restaurants that feature cuisines and generational dishes passed down from their families. There are plenty of folks out there who can also completely forget that New York City isn't but one place. Instead, New York City features five different major areas or "boroughs." Some of these are separated by rivers, and/or connected by ferries or bridges. The five boroughs of New York City include Manhattan, Brooklyn, Queens, Staten Island, and The Bronx. Manhattan

Usually, when most people envision New York City, they'll be quick to picture mountainous skyscrapers, legendary museums, iconic yellow taxis, and the ever-mystifying Central Park. This is much of what makes up Manhattan. Manhattan is a narrow island which is located within the center of New York's five boroughs. Even though geographically Manhattan is what you'd consider smaller-sized, millions of people reside within Manhattan. Manhattan is commonly sought after by folks who are interested in a more fast-paced, fashion-leaning, luxurious lifestyle. 

Brooklyn

Next, positioned just west of Manhattan and via the renowned and ever-scenic Brooklyn Bridge, is Brooklyn. Brooklyn has established a bit of a stereotype for being home to financially well-off families as well as hipsters who would rather not deal with the chaos of Manhattan. Brooklyn contains rich cultural diversity and packs more of a relaxed vibe. You'll be able to happily explore beautiful and relaxing parks like Transmitter Park and the much bigger Prospect Park, which has a ton of wildlife. 

The Bronx

The Bronx is home to the New York Yankees and also serves as the literal cradle of hip-hop while having the biggest park throughout New York City as well. This borough is located north of Manhattan, over the Harlem River. The Bronx includes numerous attractions which make it a great place for adventuring through the highly entertaining Pelham Bay Park, Bronx Zoo, and Yankee Stadium for a ballgame. Even though the subway isn't yet set up to get people back and forth to Manhattan, the actual transportation from within the borough is easy enough. 

Staten Island

Staten Island is the southernmost borough in New York. Staten Island is connected to Manhattan by way of ferry. It's oftentimes referenced as being the "forgotten borough." Staten Island also offers a much more suburban lifestyle which is preferred by its residents. It includes a wonderful zoo, rich botanical gardens, and even backyards with pools, which is a rarity in other boroughs. 

Queens

Queens is the easternmost borough of New York City, and it's known as the largest of the five boroughs. Queens effortlessly provides a laid-back and suburban feel for its residents, while still being located enough to the big city for when you feel the desire to have yourself a proper urban adventure.
