NYC's Culinary Delights

A hard-hitting list of the city's best dining spots

With the opening of a new restaurant in the sprawling and ever-bustling metropolis that is New York City comes all manners of excitement and maddened anticipation. People literally save up money for years to make trips out to New York City, just to experience various dishes being served by the world's best chefs that all share space in the city. Every once in a while a new spot will come around that is led by a chef with their team of cooks and staff that completely takes the city by storm. We've made it a point to put together a quick yet entirely hard-hitting list of the city's best dining spots that you simply can't afford to miss out on during your trip to experience all the magic that New York City has to offer.

Ilis

Greenpoint is continuing to blossom into a madly desirable neighborhood that's avidly coveted by locals and visitors alike. It could be the fact that it's so perfectly removed from the loud madness of Manhattan which is at least a bridge away, or maybe the stunning views that you can get of the city if you wander on over to Transmitter Park. This restaurant comes from a Noma alum and has already gained well-deserved hype for being a fine-dining spot where dinner is served in five courses with locally sourced ingredients and all accompanied by a delightful backstory. Your server is also a cook and gives out a speed for each dish.

Farina

If you've grown weary of whatever pizza your hometown might be serving out, and you're in need of something truly life-altering like a pork belly and bottarga-topped pizza that is served up underneath the iconic Brooklyn-Queens Expressway, then we're going to have to point you in the direction of the acclaimed and heavily respected, Farina. This pizza palace serves up pizzas with an unforgettably chewy crust that will quite literally wipe your mind clean due to a heightened sense of nirvana, as you bask in the company of appreciative friends and perfect, yet highly enthusiastic strangers alike.

Bar Miller

Before you proceed, let us just say that the final dessert which is served at Bar Miller is in fact a $250 omakase spot provided by the Rosella team - and includes ice cream that's literally been topped with caviar. Yes, this is real life, and this is a spot to be experienced before you pass on from this life. In spite of the pricier dishes, the restaurant itself maintains a laid-back and very calm aesthetic. Come here with anyone who enjoys the value of locally sourced, extra fancy fish eggs and all from within a place that in spite of its massive success in a hyper-competitive city, in no way has fallen prey to taking itself too seriously.

Sailor

Sailor immediately gives off the warm and inviting aesthetic of a seaside cottage, and with its various dishes, it can literally end up smelling in a good way like an ocean. This Fort Greene restaurant comes from Joseph Leonard and the team behind Fairfax, and is looked upon as the best nautical-themed restaurant opening of the year. You'll have to take a go at the mussel toast, or perhaps have a dance with the flaky cod which is served in a bowl of soup.

Wizard Hat Pizza

Yes, there is in fact something magical about this pizza establishment. Their pies are crispy, extra chewy, and overall extremely flavorful all at once. To make matters even better, even though this spot is heavily frequented by die-hard fans and newcomers alike, you still won't have to worry about suffering through waiting in a huge line to get your hands on one of their pies. Don't forget to try the iconic spicy pepperoni pizza with the Caesar salad to tie the whole experience together.
